Tyre rotation means moving tyres between positions on the car - front to rear and, where allowed, side to side - so they wear evenly. Front tyres usually wear faster because they steer and, on most cars, drive. Rotating them every 5,000 to 8,000 miles helps the whole set last longer and keeps grip consistent.
Swapping the positions of your tyres in a set pattern so each one spends time at the front and rear. The pattern depends on whether the car is front-, rear- or four-wheel drive and whether the tyres are directional.

A common guide is every 5,000 to 8,000 miles, or at every service, but always check your car’s handbook. Some cars have different tyre sizes front and rear, or directional tyres, which limits how they can be rotated. We will tell you what is possible for your car.
Not always. Cars with different-sized tyres front and rear can usually only swap side to side, if at all, and directional tyres must stay on the same side. We check your tyres before we start and only rotate where it is safe and correct.
It slows normal uneven wear but does not fix the cause of abnormal wear. If a tyre is worn on its inner or outer edge, that usually points to wheel alignment or suspension problems. We will point this out so you can have it checked.
